Running concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach, the Master's Mystery Art Show returned to the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach this year to raise money for Florida International University's master in fine arts program. The exhibit featured 1,500 6- by 9-inch drawings and photographs donated by artists, celebrities, and other V.I.P.s. The artist of each $50 postcard is unveiled only at the time of purchase-thus, the "mystery" element of the event.

Last year's fund-raiser-which brought in more than $20,000 for the university-included the works of celebrity artists such as Madonna and her daughter Lourdes, Whoopi Goldberg, and local news anchor Belkys Nerey, many of whom were rumored have participated this year, as well.

Last night the hotel hosted an invite-only preview cocktail party with a variety of political pieces featuring President-Elect Barack Obama on display. Resident chef Jeff McInnis, who's also starring in this season's Top Chef, served sophisticated bites such as hazelnut-crusted halloumi cheese with beets, pomegranate honey, and mint to the more than 200 guests. DJ Izzy of Private Stock Productions also added to the atmosphere by playing classic and contemporary beats.

The exhibit will be open to the public through 10 p.m. tonight.
