The home of the Miami Heat took on seductive airs for Playboyβs Super Bowl party, dubbed βPM: Playboy Miami After-Dark.β Bedroom-theme touches were everywhere at the massive bash, which packed more than 2,000 guests on the floor of the American Airlines Arena and its two side lounges. Models appeared on a suspended large crescent moon, posed and teased from the center of bars sponsored by Miller Lite and Cuervo Black, and even staged pillow fights. There were bars with pole-dancers, bars with fishnet-stocking-clad women jumping around behind peekaboo windows so they were visible only from the waist down, and even a model positioned amid the food, wearing lingerie in front of a dresser.
Playboyβs Donna Tavoso, division vice president of creative services and special projects, produced the event with Tricia Costello, president of Las Vegas-based production company Fresh Wata, which designed the sets for the party.
Last year, the magazine opted for a venue outside of central Detroit, where most other big magazines, networks, and sponsors held parties. Playboy bucked the trend this year as well, avoiding the concentration of events in South Beach, but still incorporating Miamiβs decadent nightlife vibe. As the party went well into the morning, food choices went from late-night party food to breakfast offerings. DJ Beverly Bond spun as the evening got off to a start, and DJ Reach took over around 1 AM. (He was later accompanied by the eveningβs host, Lil Jon, who DJed for a couple of hours.)
Among the guests were John Legend, Kanye West, Taye Diggs, Johnny Knoxville, Jeremy Piven, Alyssa Milano, Ron Livingston, NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon, Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Kyle Boller, and also Playboy Enterprises chairman and C.E.O. Christine Hefner with her husband, Billy Marovitz.
Tavoso also pointed out a nod to the companyβs history: The second location of the Playboy Club (following the original in the companyβs hometown of Chicago) was on Biscayne Boulevard, as the arena is now.
