Feathers, sequins, glitter, and even fur made an appearance at the design district's second annual Masquerade Ball in Miami on October 13. To keep the attention on the elaborate costumes, event organizers kept the decor of the Collins Building simple. With a blank canvas to work with, the main floor was kept open for dancing as the festivities wore on into the night.
Murals depicting court jesters and ballroom scenes were placed as backdrops to the live action on the dance floor. Tables were simply clad in black fabric, and two bar stations provided ample libations for the festive crowd.Food was provided by the design district's Grass Restaurant & Lounge. Charcuterie platters consisting of gourmet cheeses, meats, and cruditΓ©s were placed at the rear of the room. For dessert, chocolate-covered pineapple cheesecake and mini chocolate soufflΓ©s topped with mint macaroons circulated through the crowd. Liquor sponsor Ruby Rey Rum provided fresh mojito stations for partygoers. DJ Jody McDonald kept the crowd moving with a variety of music.
All proceeds from the evening benefited the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
