Pink calla lilies hung from the ceiling as guests entered the Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour store for the Key to the Cure kickoff party on October 18 in Miami. Saks pledged to donate two percent of its sales from the four-day event to UM/Sylvester's cancer research program.
All over the store, pink was the word. Pink and white calla lilies and roses were arranged in tall glass vases, some accented with tea lights, by N Events, adding a softness to the decor. Hors d'oeuvre stations and full-service bars were set up at every turn, as guests mingled throughout the three-floor department store. Some drank cosmopolitans accented with floating pink rose petals, while others savored treats from Q Restaurant & Lounge, North One 10, Touch Catering, Abokado Sushi, and 2Taste Catering, which were among more than 20 restaurants and caterers who participated in the event.Juicy Couture T-shirts with the event's "Viva La Cure" logo were available for purchase, from which all of the proceeds went to the Women's Cancer Research Fund. Mercedes-Benz USA also donated $1 million from the sales of its 1,000 special-edition 2008 sport sedans to the cause.
