The Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, which sits on 16 acres in Fort Lauderdale, embarked on a two-part $50 million renovation in early 2008. The first phase, completed recently, doubled the size of the fitness center and redesigned the 650 guests rooms.
The second phase of the project is slated to be unveiled in January and will add an additional 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, bringing the resort's total to 52,500.
The new ballroom will have panoramic ocean views and hold as many as 1,000 people.
A month later, the property will open Sea Level Restaurant and Ocean Bar. The 160-seat oceanfront eatery will overlook the beach and be able to seat 55 people inside and 105 on an open-air terrace. Specializing in regional seafood, the restaurant will also boast a centralized communal table for 10.
Rounding out the project, a freestanding clubhouse catering to children will open in March, accommodating small social events. Additionally, the resort has 200,000 square feet of beach for large outdoor events.
