Showtime hosted a party at the National Hotel in Miami Beach on Saturday night to celebrate the DVD release of the fourth season of Dexter. The 150-person event was the first release party the company has held for the serial killer series, which inspired the crime-scene decor throughout the event space.
"We believe that season four was such an outstanding season that it really deserved its own party to release it and bring attention to it," said David Bowers, vice president of marketing for Showtime Entertainment.
The network reached out to local event planner Frank Fuentes of Hyphen Media to bring the crime-ravaged event to life. The bloody decor began with the arrivals carpet, where supporting cast members posed for photographers amid blood spatter and crime-scene tape. Outside, a model with multiple bullet wounds in his chest floated in the pool like a corpse.
Fuentes created vignettes in the surrounding cabanas that included plastic-covered murder scenes, dismembered fake bodies, and more blood spatter.
Jose Cuervo sponsored the bar at one end of the pool, serving specialty cocktails like the Killer Margarita and Blood Spatter Martini. DJ Jason Vernau kept guests on the dance floor until nearly midnight, an hour later than scheduled.
