Pastificio Homemade Pasta Company received tons of attention during Pope Francis's epic visit to Philadelphia in September. For the event, the family-owned and -operated shop in South Philly crafted mozzarella cheese in the form of the pontiff himself. Pastificio can also create cheese molds of varying shapes to celebrate holidays and other special occasions. Private and corporate catering services are offered as well. Pricing is available upon request.

At this year's Greenfest, which is held annually on the first Sunday after Labor Day, entemologist and gastronomist Addison Lilholt served some unusual cuisine: edible insects. The menu included Thai chilies with fresh lime and ponzu mealworms, freeze-dried blue cheese mealworms with buffalo sauce, and cricket brownies for dessert. Lilholt, a science teacher in Philadelphia, offers his unorthodox catering, as well as guest speaking services, through his company BugYum.
