With the closure of the Plaza—site of all the past Gala Salute benefits for Channel 13/WNET and Channel 21/WLIW—this year, WNET executive director of station support Hilary S. Vlachos moved the party to Gotham Hall, and the new location prompted a funkier, more modern look.
Remco van Vliet of Van Vliet & Trap created a fresh, spring look using deep orange and apple green. Van Vliet alternated the color schemes on the tables, covering some with warm orange fabric, and pairing them with vibrant green chairs and centerpieces—arranged in low containers—with jade green roses and green cymbidium orchids. Others had green tablecloths, offset by orange chairs and predominantly orange arrangements.
