Holiday music filled the air as a crowd gathered on the sidewalk in front of Saks Fifth Avenue for the store's annual holiday window unveiling. Karin Bacon Events coordinated this year's event and provided entertainment to woo the crowd before the windows were revealed.
Live models were dressed with icy-cool looks from costume designer Mirena Rada. Rada layered sparkling silver and blue tulle to create the branches for a so-called "couture Christmas tree," and topped the costume off with a silver star headpiece. A holiday fairy fluttered among the crowd in a turquoise and blue dress made of layers of iridescent cellophane.
Four flag dancers in silver and turquoise jumpsuits waved bright red flags o a 20-foot-long stage constructed in front of the store's Fifth Avenue windows, while two trumpeters in white tuxes, complete with white top hats, performed.
At 6 PM, the windows were unveiled as actress Hallie Kate Eisenberg, from the cast of The Women, read aloud this year's holiday story. A short speech by Saks president Tina Johnson fllowed.
