When you think of memorable event decor, neutral colors like tans, beiges, and creams might not be the first thing to come to mind—but there's a reason these shades are so popular in interior design. When done right, neutral shades are anything but boring, offering a sense of elegance, sophistication, and timeless appeal to any event space. Here are some recent examples we've loved.
The Walt Disney Company's Post-Emmys Celebration 2024

This year’s Disney Emmys party leaned into the winter season with an “Après Fête”-themed after-party, held at Otium in Downtown Los Angeles. Designers and producers Sterling Engagements drew inspiration from the chic ambiance of an East Coast boutique hotel mingled with a West Coast wine country aesthetic, using a palette of rich leathers, woods, layered textiles, and darker metals accented with neutral florals and greens.

Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Glow Tour

Experiential marketing agency This Is Lester recently produced an elevated brunch for Armani Beauty to engage top-tier beauty influencers and press on the brand’s Luminous Silk Glow collection. The goal was to showcase the collection as the must-have items in every influencer's GRWM bag and set the trend for "glowing from within." The event, which took place at the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica on Jan. 18, featured long tabletops lined with a clean, elegant aesthetic and roses in various shades from light to dark, highlighting Armani's wide range of natural shades of cosmetics.

2022 Netflix Emmy Celebration

During the 2022 Emmys, Netflix celebrated its top TV talent at Milk Studios with a stylish soiree produced by Best Events. The event transformed the raw space into a posh tone-on-tone affair layered with shades of cream, champagne, and gold. Inside, hanging above the dance floor, was a stunning lighting installation made of softly lit rattan pendants layered with floral clouds made of orchids, pampas grass, and dripping amaranthus designed by Floral Crush Studio. Lounges and seating were procured from residential interior design resources in boucle, leather, and velvet.

Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter's 2023 Renovation

Neutral tones are also a popular choice for hotels—but that doesn't mean they need to be boring. Take a cue from the June 2023 renovation of the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. The 286-room hotel was completely remodeled with a contemporary California-inspired aesthetic featuring artistic and playful elements of the Gaslamp Quarter’s early inhabitants. The focal point is a carved maple wood wall with abstract, organic shapes and patterns that portray California’s casual lifestyle. Designed by waldrop+nichols studio, the space also features curved sofas, marble tabletops, and rattan and wicker seating, most custom-made with sustainable materials. Overall, the hotel has 16,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space, including eight remodeled meeting rooms and the 200-capacity Gaslamp Room.

Ketel One Botanical's Spritz Oasis Party at Coachella

At Coachella in April 2023, Ketel One Botanical invited festivalgoers to cheers the beginning of what it calls "spritz season" at the brand's private Spritz Oasis party. Throughout the flower-filled daytime gathering, guests were invited to try a variety of cocktails based on the brand's three varietals—peach and orange blossom, grapefruit and rose, and cucumber and mint—which also dictated the event design and color scheme. For the peach design, fresh fruit and florals in light pinks, oranges, and neutral shades floated in the pool. NVE Experience Agency handled production.
