ABC Sports got twice the party when it hired All
Over Miami to create a festive environment for its pre-Orange Bowl festivities.
Guests entered the 80- by 130-foot tent to find a huge sand sculpture featuring the ABC Sports logo. Two themes were going on on either side of the tent. The left side of the tent featured a Latin-inspired South Beach theme; the right side's theme was called "American Chic." In the South Beach section, silhouettes of palm trees and Art Deco buildings at sunset lined the wall, and in front of that stood a long, low buffet table. A DJ played songs from a booth made of trussing that served as a backdrop to a mojito bar. In the center of the tent, a bar complete with plasma screens supplied by Media Stage stood and divided the themes. The American Chic side portrayed life at the beach. Beach balls hung from the ceiling, and spandex-covered tables with colorful umbrellas dotted the sand-covered floor. A raised beach house served as a colorful prop and buffet table. There was even a lifeguard stand complete with a lifeguard watching over the crowd. Rollerbladers worked the crowd, handing out favors.
The food, by Dolphin Stadium's in-house caterer Boston Culinary Group, was plentiful, and corresponded to the themes. In the center of the tent, mounds of tricolored tortilla chips were placed directly atop a table with salsa nearby. Green and purple lighting bathed the ceiling in an ever-changing rush of color.
