A night of music surrounded Avon's first Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer awards program, which recognized nationwide leaders in the fight against breast cancer at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. Natalie Cole headlined the program—after a brief awards segment with celebrity presenters Star Jones, Caroline Rhea and Leelee Sobieski—and the Bacon Brothers Band (actor Kevin Bacon's side project) attempted to rock the after-party at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse while the Iguanas provided light music during the cocktail hour on the Avery Fisher Hall promenade.
A pre-party was pretty in pink—the signature color of the breast cancer crusade—and Avi Adler decorated the space with large pink, purple and white floral arrangements and small cocktail tables with shimmering pink cloth and small floral bouquets and votive candles. Restaurant Associates offered serve-yourself chicken and veggie skewers with a medley of dipping sauces along with passed hors d'oeuvres.
After the show, V.I.P. guests made their way over to the neighboring Kaplan Penthouse, where a red-hot after-party was created with red overhead lighting by Design One. Adler lined the space's glass walls—which separated the small room from its outdoor terrace—with votive candles in red holders. Small tables covered with red-sequined cloths surrounded a large red square couch that was piled high with lots of pillows in the middle of the room. (One guest took advantage of the cushy spot to take a nap.) Restaurant Associates mixed healthy snacks of fruits, nuts, olives and cheese (to keep those donors in tip-top condition) with Spanish flatbreads, chocolate berry truffles, guava cheesecake and Avon-branded cookies.
