Even though the much-anticipated Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso exhibit is at the Museum of Modern Art's temporary home in Queens, the museum hosted an opening night dinner at the Atrium in Midtown. MoMa's special events department, under the direction of director Ethel Shein and assistant directors Kim Watson and Kara Moore, planned the event, which drew 600 attendees.
Marcade designed the event's decor with bold, solid colors inspired by the exhibit. The Paris-based production company installed large blue, orange and yellow walls around the dinner area, and covered the tables in the same colors. ZeZe Flowers' centerpieces used tulip bunches in complementary colors in clear vases. The table numbers had functional style with extra large cutout numbers sitting atop tall white bases—making it easier for guests to find their assigned seats.
