The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel is entering the final stages of its $100 million renovation, which will be complete this winter. The 9,300-square-foot Thurgood Marshall Ballroom will be a new addition to the 16-acre property, created by reconfiguring the hotel's current event space (which totals 195,000 square feet). The 1,322 guest rooms are getting a modern, clean look with plusher mattresses, 300-thread-count linens, and 32-inch HDTVs, while the lobby lounge is being updated and a new high-tech fitness center is being added.
Also new to the property is the Stone's Throw Restaurant & Bar, an upscale steak house that opened in September. Serving a menu of steaks, chops, and seafood from executive chef John Payne Jr., the 281-seat venue has four private dining rooms (each named after a stone: Mica, Slate, Limestone, and Granite), with capacities ranging from 8 to 30, as well as a chef's table for 20.
