At the fifth annual Teen Comic Convention at the Young at Art Children's Museum in Davie, Florida, local teens exhibited their cartoon and comic artwork and a younger group of attendees participated in learning workshops. During cartoonist Rob Cabrera's 3-D art demonstration, the kid attendees wore 3-D glasses and followed colors on clipboards as Cabrera drew characters including Spider-Man in front of them.

The four-hour event, held August 4, attracted 425 attendees of all ages for a fee of $8 for those ages two and up. "We noticed there were a lot of talented young people volunteering here every summer, and we created an event so they could showcase their art and inspire our young campers," said Sandra Trinidad, marketing coordinator at the Young at Art Museum.

Activities included a meet-and-greet with cartoon artist John Taddeo, face painting, and drawing. The convention drew in buyers who wanted to purchase the teens' artwork, which was displayed on tables covered in linen rentals from Over the Top. Whole Foods Market catered the event, handing out tips on healthy eating and snacks from Back to Nature.
