The Goodman Theatre hosted its season-opening benefit Tuesday, September 27, treating guests to a performance of Red. Written by John Logan, the piece explores the life and work of artist Mark Rothko. Rothko's abstract paintings, characterized by bright colors and layered rectangles, inspired the decor at a dinner preceding the play. Held at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, the dinner was decked with centerpieces from Kehoe Designs. In lieu of flowers, the centerpieces consisted of paint cans, brushes branded with the Goodman logo, and vibrant red light boxes decorated with rectangles.
