comfort. Actress Gena Rowlands presented the award to Douglas in front of 275 guests. The film festival's director, Roger Durling, worked with Premiere Events to produce the understated affair. Sunflowers in martini glasses made sweet, simple centerpieces at Classic's midnight blue-clothed tables, and guests nibbled on dinner from the hotel's kitchen. The evening opened with taped remarks from Douglas's son Michael, who spoke about the actor's private life, followed by remarks from Durling. Also on hand to celebrate were Carol Burnett, Christopher Lloyd, and former Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan. The Roman Glowlights jazz quartet entertained the crowd.
