Hotel spas are racing to out-luxe each other by adding an array of cutting-edge treatments. Here's a sample of what's new on the Strip.

1. Caesars Palace opened Qua Baths and Spa in November 2006. The 50,000-square-foot space includes a 5,500-square-foot fitness center, 51 treatment rooms, and three deluxe couples suites. Qua offers a new concept called “social spa-ing,” which includes several atmospheric spaces that offer spa treatments in a luxe, loungelike setting. Other highlights: the Arctic Ice Lounge, where guests can recover from heat treatments in crisp 55-degree air, and the Tea Lounge, where an in-house tea sommelier pairs servings with the spa services.

2. The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino includes the 32,000-square-foot Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara. The spa features 30 treatment rooms, Jacuzzi baths, a large relaxation area, a separate hair and nail salon, an extensive new treatment menu, and their signature Hawaiian four-hand massage. The venue can host events (with catering) for as many as 600 people.

3. The Spa at New York–New York reopened in a renovated space in August 2007. The garden-themed, earthy spa is accented with mosaic tiles, sepia-toned wood, water fountains, and exotic plants. Offering a treatment menu centered around an eco theme, the facility includes a steam room and dry sauna, a state-of-the-art workout center, a men’s whirlpool, and women’s hydrotherapy tubs. The Spa at New York–New York is open to nonhotel guests Monday through Thursday.

4. The Spa at Monte Carlo unveiled a renovated 13,000-square-foot space featuring a brand-new treatment menu in February 2007. The expanded spa is separated into men’s and women’s areas and includes eight massage rooms, a hydrotherapy room offering scrubs and body wraps, steam rooms and saunas, and a 2,800-square-foot gym.

5. The Oasis spa at Luxor reopened in January 2007 with the new name Nurture Spa. The renovated, airy 12,000-square-foot space includes two relaxation lounges and a fitness center. The spa is located in the west tower, and spa guests can relax in the pool or the surrounding area, which includes a cascading waterfall and massage room.
