Last summer, when the Mets announced a partnership with restaurateur Danny Meyer, it looked as if Citi Field had the upper hand—at least in terms of high-end food offerings. But today The New York Times reported that the Bronx will not be bereft of fancy fare. According to Florence Fabricant, the new Yankee Stadium will be the home of an outpost from Upper East Side meat boutique Lobel's, as well a place where Masaharu Morimoto, April Bloomfield, chefs from Le Cirque, and even cooks from Elaine's will run open cooking stations.

Like the team in Queens, the Yankees are making an effort to refine the food served at the stadium, and now it appears that both baseball clubs are on an even playing field in regards to their dining concepts.

While Meyer is looking to serve freshly cut Belgian fries and pulled pork on brioche buns, a concession stand from Lobel's will dish out dry-aged prime rib sandwiches. Myriad Restaurant Group's Drew Nieporent will run a 550-seat restaurant at Citi Field, and Yankee Stadium will have a Hard Rock Café and NYY Steak. At the Delta Sky360 Club in Queens, fresh blueberries in frozen custard could be on the menu, and inside the entrance to the Bronx ballpark, ticket holders will have access to a market selling fresh fruit.
