Heat, cold, and moisture can create problems for sensitive audiovisual equipment unless the products are made for outdoor use. Here’s a look at five all-weather products found on display at InfoComm, a trade show for the professional audiovisual industry, held June 8 to 14 at the Orange County Convention Center.

Christie’s WeatherAll line of LCD displays is designed for outdoor use. The 55-inch unit has a water- and dust-resistant exterior and bonded glass that protects it from impact and scratches while also reducing reflection. The display is very bright to boost visibility in any outdoor environment.

Peerless-AV offers Ciil TVs, fully sealed flat-panel televisions with no seams or external electrical components. The units can withstand weather as cold as minus 40 degrees, including ice and snow, and can also withstand heat up to 140 degrees. Each unit has safety glass on the front and a thermal transfer panel mounted on the back that generates appropriate heating and cooling depending on the conditions. The televisions range in size from 26 to 55 inches.

Lamp Tech has an LED curtain screen that can withstand temperatures ranging from minus 4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The weatherproof curtain is also very bright so it can be clearly viewed at indoor and outdoor events.

Airscreen produces inflatable movie screens intended for outdoor use in any condition. The screens come in multiple sizes that reach up to 100 feet in width. Most sizes take less than an hour to set up and 30 minutes to tear down. The screen can be left up for several weeks for ongoing events.

Peavey’s new Elements line of speakers is designed with a weatherproof enclosure that does not inhibit sound quality. The cabinet has stainless-steel hardware and a semipermeable membrane inside that lets moisture out but does not let water in.
