GOP Hosts Presidential Brouhaha Tonight

It's looking to be a Republican frenzy at tonight's President's Dinner at the Washington Convention Center. Hosted by the National Republican Congressional and Senatorial Committees, the annual dinner is one of Washington's biggest political fund-raisers—the $2,500 ticket price will go toward efforts to get more Republicans elected to the Senate and House in 2008. More than 4,500 right-swinging lawmakers and political-minded types are expected to attend the event (congressmen and -women, senators, and governors among them), which kicks off with at cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing. Country music singer Trace Adkins is set to perform a 45-minute set, wrapping up the evening shortly after 9 p.m., which is likely to go over well with George W., who is known to turn early.
