The Washington Hilton held its official reopening last week after a three-year $150million renovation. The upgrade encompassed the entire property and brought new guest rooms, meeting spaces, common areas, restaurants, and a health club. North of Dupont Circle, the hotel is a local landmark and has hosted U.S. presidents, world leaders, and high-profile events like the White House Correspondents Association dinner and inaugural balls since its opening in 1965.
The renovation added two new function spaces: Columbia Hall and the Heights Executive Meeting Center. On the terrace level, the 30,000-square-foot Columbia Hall features a series of movable walls that allow for the space to be tailored to a variety of group sizes. Adjoining the hall are seven renovated meeting suites that can be used separately as breakout rooms or in conjunction with the hall’s main exhibition space. The nine-room Heights Executive Meeting Center offers groups dedicated meeting space within the hotel.
The property now boasts more than 110,000 square feet of function space. The International Ballroom complex, which at 36,000 square feet is the largest hotel ballroom in D.C., was updated with new carpeting and audiovisual equipment while the concourse-level foyer, adjacent to the ballroom, was also expanded to better suit group registrations.
The makeover continued to all of the 1,070 guest rooms, which now feature dark wood, enlarged workstations, ergonomic chairs, 32-inch flat-panel HDTVs, and updated bathrooms.
