THIS WEEK'S CALENDAR:
WEDNESDAY: BizBash Idea Fest Los Angeles
THURSDAY: Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival kicks off

* INCOMING *

1. POWER PLAY IN D.C.: This year's White House Correspondents Dinner marked "the end of power as we have known it" in D.C., according to Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn, who called the dinner a "grotesque event" with too many celebrities. Now, "The fundraiser has replaced the Washington dinner party. … Washington has become a community of small groups of people, mostly staying within their circles, occasionally making a foray out into the bigger world to large events, only to be turned off by the endless corporate 'fundraiserness' of it all. How special can you feel when you know you have to pay to go to an event and then get a bad seat on top of that?"

2. E3 EXTRA: BizBash West Coast editor Alesandra Dubin reports on the biggest parties, press conferences, and exhibits at E3, the Entertainment Software Association's massive Electronic Entertainment Expo. http://bit.ly/Nle0j6

3. HUGE JEWISH ARTS FESTIVAL PLANNED: The National Yiddish Theater-Folksbiene in New York is planning an international Jewish arts festival in New York in 2015. The New York Times: "The plans for Kulturfest: The First Chana Mlotek International Festival of Jewish Performing Arts will be announced Tuesday at a gala concert honoring Neil Sedaka and others at Town Hall in Manhattan. A weeklong festival with 100 events including concerts, film screenings and theater is envisioned by Bryna Wasserman, the executive director of Folksbiene, and Zalmen Mlotek, its artistic director. The big ambitions do not come cheap. Folksbiene, with a staff of about 10 full-time employees and a budget of about $1.5 million, has received $250,000 from two donors for the festival but has a $2 million fund-raising goal." http://nyti.ms/Muj8wt

4. BELMONT AD BLUES: Advertisers may be feeling the pain after Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another was scratched from the race. Huffington Post: "For major events such as the Super Bowl, networks release some financial details, but NBC was tight-lipped about its per-30-second ad rate for the Triple Crown broadcasts, and would not discuss total ad buys either. … 'They knew what they were getting into when they bought the ads,'" consultant Peter Shankman said of advertisers. http://huff.to/LK2tWH

5. STUBHUB GONE SOUR: Venues and ticket resellers have long had a contentious relationship, and now the New York Yankees might be ending theirs with StubHub. New York Post: "The team, led by general partner Hal Steinbrenner, blames eBay’s StubHub for declining attendance, which is off about 4 percent compared with this point last season. Fans, instead of buying unsold tickets from the team, purchase resold tickets for much less than face value on StubHub. But such an active resale market means many tickets go unused." http://nyp.st/LLv7sd

6. TWITTER ON TV: The social media giant aired its first TV ad Sunday, using it to promote its new partnership with Nascar. TechCrunch: http://tcrn.ch/LBFBMd

7. SOCCER AND SNEAKERS: Adidas launched its month-long Tumblr campaign, with an official soccer blog just in time for the 2012 UEFA European Championship. "For the launch of its ad units, Tumblr was looking to work with brands that were already active on the platform and had a strong creative vision…[and] Adidas already had a compelling presence on Tumblr with its fashion- and design-oriented "Adidas Originals" blog." The company plans to accelerate the rollout of advertisers over the course of the summer. Ad Age: http://bit.ly/KeI8f8
