Just after receiving the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's "Legend of Fashion" award, boutique owner Ikram Goldman, a onetime style adviser to Michelle Obama, hosted a 10th anniversary party for her eponymous shop on May 7. The invites—old-fashioned viewfinders with slides that showcased the event's details—went out to 750 guests, who included Goldman's clients and some of the "world's most elite fashionistas," according to event producer Jodi Wolf of Paulette Wolf Events & Entertainment.
With sets from DJs OMG and Jesse de La Pena, a performance from Swedish pop duo First Aid Kit, and late-night snacks served out of hot dog carts, the event took place at the Hudson, a new space managed by Wolf's firm. "There are very few raw spaces in the Chicago area that can host that many people" and hold elaborate decor," Wolf said. "It was the perfect space for Ikram. The challenge was to take this warehouse space and transform it into something memorable and inviting, that no one has ever seen before."
Tom Kehoe of Kehoe Designs handled decor. "The vision was to use the [Ikram brand's] signature red in conjunction with a disco-ball-gothic-chic ambience," Wolf said. "Kehoe designed an environment that was not only fashion-forward but functional," allowing guests to dance, lounge, mingle, and nosh on J&L appetizers. Frost brought in a disco ball and a Lucite chandelier piece, and those elements "gave off the sparkle that Ikram wanted."
