This week's roundup includes Samsung's henna tattoo parlor at Lollapalooza, an on-theme activity for guests at The Newsroom's second-season premiere party in Los Angeles, a giant sand castle at Yahoo C.E.O. Marissa Mayer's San Francisco birthday bash, and kites suspended over dinner tables at a Hamptons benefit.

At The Newsroom Season 2 premiere party at Paramount in Los Angeles, guests tried their luck at newscaster karaoke on a specially built news desk set. The production team created two news sets, plus costumes, hair, and makeup stations. Guests could choose a news story—similar to the way they would pick a song for karaoke—film a segment, and take home a copy of the taping.

Last weekend, Paper magazine returned for a second year with its Super Duper Market, a three-day pop-up bazaar sponsored by Target and American Express housed inside St. Patrick's Youth Center in New York. Newyorkina, a purveyor of Mexican-inspired frozen sweets, offered guests miniature cones of ice cream in quirky flavors such as avocado, corn, and rice horchata. The company is available for private events and catering in New York.

Held at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art, the United Way bash had an interactive picture mosaic that guests helped create. As guests arrived, they posed for photos from a camera that was connected to an LCD screen. The pictures then moved across the screen and were dropped into a photo mosaic to build a blue-and-gold fleur de lys. The activation was created by Picture Mosaics.

Russel Simmons's Art for Life benefit took to Fairview Farms in the Hamptons on July 27. Its idyllic theme, "Field of Dreams," came to life in whimsical decor from DN Concepts. Kites suspended over every table had colorful signs on their tails that held the names of artistic vocations such as "dancer" and "poet." The tables also had grassy centerpieces that served as anchors, as well as patchwork linens by Roberto Cavalli.

Live Camden Open House

An open house for Toronto's boutique condo development at 32 Camden Street enticed buyers by showcasing the building's neighborhood. Produced by Candice & Alison, the "Live Camden" open house took place over a weekend in July and offered a series of pop-up experiences provided by local business owners. In lieu of typical sales brochures, guests received a mock passport upon arrival. The guide invited visitors to check out model suites and available units, and participate in pop-up neighborhood experiences along the way.
