4 New Philadelphia Bars, Clubs, and Lounges

1. Set at the foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge, Morgan’s Pier opened in May, offering 20 draft beers paired with casual eats like tuna burgers and fried chicken tacos. Wooden picnic tables, vintage umbrellas, and linden trees fill the indoor-outdoor space. The venue is available for buyouts, with a total capacity of 800.

2. Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant opened a new location in Chestnut Hill in January 2012. The wood-paneled venue serves house beers, including special releases, alongside a menu of pizzas, burgers, and comfort food. A private function room holds 50.

3. Legendary live music venue Ortlieb’s Lounge reopened in April under new management, following a two-year hiatus. The rehabbed Northern Liberties space has red booths, dark wood walls, and a capacity of 100. A menu of Tex-Mex bar food and draft beers is available; the club can accommodate buyouts.

4. The members-only, 21-and-over North Shore Beach Club opened in the popular Northern Liberties neighborhood in April. The centerpiece of the facility is a 1,380-square-foot pool surrounded by Balinese lounge chairs, hammocks, ping-pong tables, and cabanas. The venue is available for private events and also includes an upper-level sundeck, restaurant, bar, and spa services.
