Chefs and food suppliers from Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal will team up tomorrow for a Friends of James Beard benefit dinner for 100 guests. The $295-a-ticket dinner at the Drake Hotel is organized by Drake chef Anthony Rose, who became involved with the New York-based James Beard Foundation while working in San Francisco.

Hosted by cookbook author and National Post columnist Bonnie Stern, the dinner will feature courses from Rose, Rob Feenie (of Cactus Restaurants), Fred Morin (Joe Beef), Martin Picard (Au Pied du Cochon), and Tobey Nemeth (Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar). The meal will be paired with Ontario wines and Canadian cheeses."The James Beard Foundation is all about culinary heritage, so the chefs are making dishes that are relevant to where they are in Canada," said the event's publicist, Sarah Ruuska-Kiriliuk of Rock-it Promotions. James Beard Foundation vice president Mitchell Davis will attend the fund-raiser.
