When the 33rd annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) gets under way September 4, the Yorkville neighbourhood—known as the hub of the festival—is sure to be bustling with filmmakers, international media, and stargazers hoping to spot visiting celebrities. Here are some new dining options for entertaining in the area during the 10-day event:
1. Skylounge, the 80-seat patio space at the InterContinental Hotel Yorkville, is introducing a new menu for TIFF with items including rosemary-vanilla lobster salad, and movie star-inspired cocktails such as the Leading Man (vodka, champagne, and blackberries) and the Muse (a cucumber martini). The lounge features brazilian wood tables, Philippe Starck chairs, and custom grey couches.
2. The Royal Ontario Museum's restaurant, C5, started offering afternoon tea in July. The three-course menu includes lobster tostadas with avocado relish and caviar, honey pink peppercorn madeleines, and seasonal fruit scones. The sweet and savoury offerings—which can be enjoyed with a view of C5's new rooftop garden—are paired with Mighty Leaf teas or sparkling wine, and are available Thursdays to Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
3. True Restaurant, which opened in Yorkville earlier this summer, offers a mostly organic selection of soups, salads, pizzas, pastas and sandwiches, along with fresh juices and organic sodas, spirits, and wines. The casual space is decorated with white swivel chairs and oak wall panels, and includes a 30-seat patio.
