In March, the Corcoran Gallery of Art opened
what is being hailed as the largest exhibition on Modernism to be shown in the
United States. Characterized by abstract forms, bold colors, and geometric
shapes, “Modernism: Designing a New World, 1914-1939” features nearly 400 images
and objects, including architecture, fashion, and paintings. More than 50 films
from the period will also be screened as part of the exhibit.
Originally shown last year at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, “Modernism” will run through July 29 at the Corcoran, the exhibition’s only American venue. The museum can be rented for events for as many 1,000 people at a cost of $8,000 for nonprofits and $10,000 for corporations. Individual tickets cost $14.
