Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center announced yesterday the sale of its one millionth guest room, a feat accomplished 10 months before its April 25, 2008, opening date.
The presold rooms are made up entirely of contracted groups holding events at the property through 2018, including the Air Force Association’s Air and Space Conference and Technology Expo (which drew more than 9,000 attendees in 2006). Individual room reservations will not be accepted until January 1, 2008.The $800 million Gaylord Hotels property is the second largest convention space in the Washington, D.C., area, covering 41 acres along Maryland’s Potomac River. The venue offers 2,000 guest rooms, 470,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, seven on-site restaurants, and a 20,000-square-foot European-style spa.
Owned and operated by the Nashville-based hospitality and entertainment company Gaylord Entertainment, the chain also has meetings-focused resorts in Nashville, Orlando, Dallas.
