1. C.F.D.A. TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD DURING FASHION WEEK: The Council of Fashion Designers of America has partnered with Planned Parenthood to launch Fashion Stands With Planned Parenthood, an initiative that will raise awareness and money for the organization during New York Fashion Week. Women's Wear Daily: "Under the Trump administration, politicians are taking steps to defund Planned Parenthood health centers. Should that occur, millions of people—nearly half of whom are people of color and many who live in rural areas—would lose the care they rely on. To address the urgency of the situation, the CFDA has created a pink pin for CFDA members and supporters to use during their fashion week shows and presentations. Designed by The Creative Group, Condé Nast, the pin has been distributed to all participating designers; public relations, modeling agencies and creative; fashion week locations; industry influencers, and press attending New York Fashion Week from Feb. 9 to 16. The CFDA worked with Tracy Reese, one of its board members, to encourage designers to wear the pin when they take their bow and place it on one or more models in their show, and distribute them to all front row attendees, as well as their front-of-house staff. … The pin serves as a call to action and a way to highlight the support that CFDA members have for Planned Parenthood. Each pin will be accompanied with an information card that outlines Planned Parenthood’s services and actions they can take to get involved and stand with the organization. The CFDA is encouraging everyone to take a picture wearing the pin and share it using the hashtag #IStandWithPP to followers." http://bit.ly/2kLzNXS
2. SUPER BOWL LI SHY OF RATINGS RECORD: While Sunday's Super Bowl featured a historic overtime win and a high-energy halftime performance from Lady Gaga, viewership of the 51st edition of the game was down compared to last year. The New York Times: "Sunday’s game drew 111.3 million viewers on Fox, high enough to tie it for fourth place among the most-viewed programs in TV history but down slightly from last year’s total of 111.9 million viewers. It was the eighth consecutive year that the Super Bowl exceeded 100 million viewers. And the game’s wild ending—particularly for what looked like a certain blowout late into the third quarter, with the Falcons holding a commanding 25-point lead—brought in a huge audience. The game peaked between 10 and 10:30 p.m. with a 52.1 rating and 74 share, higher than at any point for last year’s game, according to Nielsen. Fox said on Monday that when streams from its Fox Sports Go app and its Spanish-language sports channel, Fox Deportes, were added in, the viewership was 113.7 million viewers, tying it for the second-best multiplatform performance in Super Bowl history. Still, this is the second consecutive year that the Super Bowl did not set a new ratings record, and the game caps a troubling yearlong trend for the league. Ratings for N.F.L. games in the 2016-17 season were down 9 percent over the regular season and 6 percent through the first three weeks of the playoffs, according to the research firm MoffettNathanson." http://nyti.ms/2kLBl4t
3. INSIDE NASHVILLE'S UPCOMING IMMERSIVE DRIVE-IN THEATER: An indoor replica of a 1960s-style American drive-in theater is slated to open in Nashville in 2018. Variety: "Called the August Moon Drive-In, the attraction takes a page from upscale dine-in exhibitors like Alamo Drafthouse as well as from immersive theater events like 'Sleep No More.' The $10 million project aims to conjure a summer night in the sixties under a 40,000-square-foot, air-supported dome, complete with simulated starry sky, seating in modified classic cars and food service (with a full bar) focused on artisanal takes on comfort-food standards like burgers and milkshakes. August Moon is created and designed by Michael Counts, who got his start as the director of sprawling, immersive theater events in Brooklyn before he moved on to live, interactive projects that have included New York escape room 'Paradiso: Chapter 1' and 'The Walking Dead Experience.' 'Essentially we’re building a soundstage,' he said of what’s envisioned as an intricately detailed recreation of an outdoor space with grass, trees, hammocks, fireflies, sunsets and the scent of meadow air. 'We’re building a set as if you’re going to shoot an outdoor scene in a movie, on an indoor stage.' Nashville was chosen for the launch in part because it seemed a good fit for the attraction’s classic-Americana vibe." http://bit.ly/2kAgTkG
