New Bakery Caters 200 Kinds of Cupcakes

Phoebe's Cupcakes, which opened in Lakeview last week, offers a catering menu of 200 types of cupcakes. Running the gamut from orange blossom to angel food with strawberries to Earl Grey tea truffle, each treat comes topped with a swirl of Italian buttercream frosting and innovative garnishes. The sparkling pear cupcake, for example, is crowned with champagne flavored frosting and silver dragées; the salted caramel variety is dusted with Himalayan rose sea salt.

Kate McNamara and Phoebe Walters, the pastry chefs who own the bakery, can customize cupcakes with corporate logos or create frosting hues to match companies' signature colors; they can also shape the baked goods to resemble specific items. (For one client, they decorated cupcakes to look like sushi.) Cupcakes cost $27.50 per dozen. For orders of $100 or more, the bakery can provide delivery and setup at office and event spaces in the city and suburbs.
