* INCOMING *

 1. PRICING THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM: Tickets to attend the assembly, which is being held January 25-29 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, does not come cheap regardless of one's membership level. The basic level, which will get you one invitation costs about $52,000 and the ticket itself is another $19,000, plus tax, bringing the total cost of membership and entrance fee to $71,000. The New York Times: "But that fee just gets you in the door with the masses at Davos, with entry to all the general sessions. If you want to be invited behind the velvet rope to participate in private sessions among your industry's peers, you need to step up to the 'Industry Associate' level. That costs $137,000, plus the price of the ticket, bringing the total to about $156,000."

2. MOBILIZING POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT: Republican candidates are experimenting with mobile ads. "Before Texas Gov. Rick Perry dropped out of the race last week, his digital strategist, Vincent Harris, was targeting mobile ads within a two- to five-mile radius of the center of campus at the University of South Carolina as well as nine Christian colleges in the state, including Furman and Bob Jones University. The ads were uniquely branded with each college's color schemes and mascots and directed people to a landing page where they were urged to sign up as precinct captains or take other actions to assist the campaign." 7. KODAK'S MARKETING DOWNFALL: Forbes on the failure of Kodak: "The essence of marketing is asking first, ‘what business are we in?’ and not ‘how do we sell more products?’..Kodak made a classic mistake: it didn’t ask the right question.
