Located within Wrigleyville dance club Red Ivy, 1914 opened in October, and—despite its name—aims to recreate a 1924 Chicago speakeasy. To that end, servers sport flapper costumes, bartenders stay in character by sounding off on President Calvin Coolidge, and specialty cocktails with names such as "Tall Drink of Milk" and "Strong Bowl of Chicken Soup" are served in teacups.
Outfitted with exposed brick walls, tin ceililngs, and mosaic-tile floors, the space is available for full buyout and can accommodate 80 guests. A computer jack hooks up to four HD TV screens to broadcast presentations throughout the venue, and planners can opt to cater events with Sicilian pizza, pasta, and other Italian specialties from Palermo's.
