With the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas's big opening came the debut of its centerpiece nightclub, Marquee. The nightclub and "dayclub"—as Marquee bills itself—comes from the Tao Group, with design by the Rockwell Group.
The club consists of seven bars set among three luxe rooms, which offer a variety of musical experiences. Design elements range from chandeliers made from bike chains and sprockets in the Boom Box Room to modern Renaissance-style murals on the ceiling of the women’s lounge. The main room has a 40-foot LED video wall and projection stage with custom DJ booth, surrounded by plush coliseum-style banquette seating and two dance floors.
Overlooking the main floor is the library, an intimate lounge with a fireplace, a billiard table, and vintage books. The Boom Box Room has views of the Strip in a smaller setting, with a separate DJ and sound system. Overall, the venue is 60,000 square feet, with a Funktion One sound system and lighting design by Steve Lieberman. North Hollywood-based V Squared Labs created custom content, interactive video, and animation response systems, and integrated those elements into one audiovisual control system.
The dayclub pool is an adults-only lounge by day and an extension of the nightclub in the evening. The pool is adjacent to the nightclub, separated by glass panels, on the sixth floor of the resort. There are two tiers of cabanas: Eight V.I.P. cabanas have private spas and glass-walled plunge pools, and 10 pool-view cabanas are set in the middle of the pool deck. The bungalow suites are three-story suites overlooking the club. A shaded gaming area with five blackjack tables and one craps table is near the east pool bar and nightclub. Bars are at the west and east ends of the pool deck. Tao Group corporate executive chef Ralph Scamardella's full menu includes lunch and casual, poolside cuisine. There's also a built-in DJ stage. Overall, there's room for 2,000 people.
