Bubbles filled the air, and the Champagne flowed freely throughout this year's Moët & Chandon Bubble Q event Friday evening on the beach behind the Delano Hotel, known as one of the South Beach Wine and Food Festival's most chic events-and one of the first to sell out. More than 3,000 locals and visitors stepped onto the sand to enjoy the party hosted by Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis.
As guests arrived on the beach, they were immediately drawn into the event by models clad in silver, white, and sparkles from head to toe pouring the first glasses of bubbly and standing underneath large rotating disco balls that were anchored in the sand, courtesy of Designs by Sean. Prior to entering the large tent, guests could relax under a clear sky in several seating areas, created by Bubble Miami, and at tables provided by So Cool Events, while they visited the first group of chef's stations set up along either side.Event manager Kelly Murphy of Panache: A Classic Event Rentals Company enlisted Randi Freedman of Logistics Management Group to help coordinate the site where a 100- by 200-foot tent structure would be set up to house the party. Inside, white was everywhere form the tables to the chairs and linens with deep pink accents. Rav Productions, Lunare Designs, and Vagabond Gourmet created a variety of centerpieces to top each table, including elements such as Styrofoam Qs, iridescent light-up stars, and even Ping-Pong balls to represent champagne bubbles. Additionally, white roses and candles were everywhere, adding to the casual-chic ambience Murphy wanted to create.
Twenty-three celebrity chefs-including locals like Govind Armstrong and Mark Militello, and visitors like Tyler Florence and the Today show's Al Roker-prepared a variety of their best barbecue specialties. Though an unlikely match, the cuisine was successfully paired with Moët & Chandon Champagne, whose "Be Fabulous" branding was present throughout the tent.
Guest were entertained throughout the evening by the continuous beat of DJ Scott Melker from New York, as well as the unconventional acrobatic talents of the Spiegelworld performers.
A high-end silent auction with items valued with at more than $4,000 brought in money to benefit Florida International University's School of Hospitality Management.
