The closing party for the 2008 American Mosaic Summit, the annual convention for the Society of American Mosaic Artists, was held on April 5 for members and art connoisseurs alike. Ceramic tile manufacturer Trend USA Limited hosted the soiree, whose theme was "Tesserae in the Tropics."
2Taste Catering transformed the store-already adorned with eye-catching mosaic displays and options for home design-into a special, one-time-only event space. Hors d'oeuvres included mini bowls of mussels with yellow rice and small plates of shredded beef on a biscuit with macaroni and cheese. All the food was served in 2 Taste's signature style: on six-foot clear platters carried by two caterwaiters, one on each end Servers also matched the theme with colorful mosaic pieces pasted onto their faces.Additional color elements from 2Taste were on display, including glasses of colored gels set in boxes throughout the center of the space, accenting the indigenous mosaic elements. An acoustic guitar player sat atop a central stage and provided live music intermittently throughout the night in one room, while DJs from Out of This World Entertainment kept the crowd alive in the back of the space.
