As beats by DJ Zim boomed from the American Airlines terminal in the Miami International Airport, passersbyβboth arriving and departingβstopped to catch a glimpse of the action.
It was happening at The Shoppes at Ocean Drive, a boutique department store venture between Miamiβs Ocean Drive magazine and airport retail brand NewsLink, which celebrated its grand opening May 31. The team from Barton G. produced the event, which included Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez performing a ribbon-cutting ceremony standing on a hot pink carpet.
The storeβs LED screens projected footage from Ocean Drive photo shoots, along with logos of the partyβs sponsored brands. In true Ocean Drive fashion, a trio of glamazon models strutted the space, posing for photo opportunities.
Food stations set up among the retail displays offered items like tuna tartare tacos, paella, plantain chips, and seaweed salad. Each area was sponsored by brands such as Heery S&G, Artco Group, and the U.S. Construction Corp.β all associated with Miami International Airport or NewsLink. The waitstaff served sushi bites atop clear trays, which sported printouts of different sponsorship logos.
Vendors from the storeβs Prive Market to Go area showcased treats, including NewsLink logo cookies from Cookies by Shar, a rainbow tower of French macaroons by Atelier Monnier, red velvet and vanilla cupcakes from Mishaβs Cupcakes, and empanadas from Panna CafΓ© to Go.
Guests mingled around high cocktail tables with fuchsia satin tablecloths and enjoyed beverages provided by Coca-Cola at two pop-up bars.
