Not that we don't love Chelsea, but here's a hot new place in a different part of town: the Lower East Side's SX137. Owner Alex Sumner brought in designer Harry Allen (who did offices for Metropolis magazine and the Guggenheim) to design the 1,400-square-foot space. The look: a big, blonde wood bar; dark brown banquettes, tables and floors in the dining room; an all-white private room in the back that seats 12; a mirrored hallway with a small DJ table; and white-tiled unisex bathrooms. The entire space can hold 200 for cocktails or 40 for a dinner from chef John Lhost's menu of New American cuisine. Rates range from $20 to $50 per hour, per person.
