Short Film Fest in Tribeca Goes Solo

Robert De Niro and company are bringing another standalone film festival to Lower Manhattan. Tropfest@Tribeca, which was part of the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, will feature 16 short films in an outdoor public viewing on the World Financial Center Plaza on September 23. Judging by well-known actors and filmmakers will take place on-site, and winners will receive $10,000 plus a trip to Australia, the original home of Tropfest. The films must be seven minutes or shorter, and filmmakers must incorporate a signature item; this year the item is "slice." The film festival is being produced by Tribeca Enterprises and Tropfest and sponsored by Target.
