Where to Screen a Movie Outside

Although there are plenty of free outdoor movie screenings around town this summer, if you're looking to entertain a more private group, consider these options:

1. Open since last year, the Pod Hotel is a fairly new addition to the lineup of hotels in Midtown, and although it doesn't have the big ballrooms or conference areas that others might offer, it does have a 15- by 20-foot movie screen outside. Just off the lobby lounge and enclosed by the surrounding buildings, the outdoor garden café can host events in its cozy nook.2. Only two months old, Hudson Terrace has already hosted a slew of parties, including an AllStar week event sponsored by Vitamin Water. What planners might not know is that the venue comes equipped with movie projectors and a large surface for screenings. From the rooftop garden, videos can be projected onto a 30- by 30-foot portion of a neighboring building's wall.

3. For the past few years, Moda Outdoors—the outdoor section of Flatotel's in-house restaurant, Moda—has been a popular choice for many Midtown firms looking to entertain summer associates. Although the venue offers its own screen, planners are also welcome to bring their own projection surface.
