Here are some new locations set to open this summer.
1. Scheduled for a public opening in September, concert and performance space Le Poisson Rouge is currently booking private events from through the end of August. The Walter Storyk Design Group—the same company that worked on the design for Jazz at Lincoln Center—has updated the acoustics in the venue (formerly the Village Gate Theater), a site that also features a 130-person soundproof bar and lounge, two stages, a hardwood sprung dance floor, two screens with surround sound, and a full catering kitchen.
2. Splashlight, the photo studio and event space near the Javits Center, is scheduled to open a second location in SoHo in early July. Situated in the building that houses New York magazine's offices, the third-floor facility has a total of 60,000 square feet and, when fully finished, will feature six day-rental studios, some of which can be combined. In addition to this, Splashlight SoHo will offer an on-site café called Eet, which will serve soups, salads, pizza, pasta, and drinks throughout the day.
3. Scheduled to open in a couple of weeks is Randall's Island Golf Center, a 25-acre property recently renovated by the North Shore Golf Group. In addition to golf-related spaces, the center now includes a pro shop styled after a country club, a patio lounge outfitted with Wi-Fi, and a beer garden and grill. For events, a 4,000-square-foot tent is rigged with projectors, LCD screens, whiteboards, and Internet access; the space holds 500.
