The Skate Truck NYC, a new mobile roller-skate- and Rollerblade-rental company, has been setting up shop in New York City parks. The truck is available to rent for private skating events. Instructors can teach skaters techniques, like how to turn in a circle, and can also lead them in teambuilding-style skating games, like relays.
Companies can secure their own skate-friendly location (such as playgrounds, tennis courts, or gymnasiums), or the Skate Truck NYC can scout an appropriate venue for an additional fee. Events can be held indoors as long as the space is open and the floor surface is smooth and flat. Depending on the location, a permit for music may be required. Corporate events start at $800 for up to 40 people; additional skaters are $10 each, and the maximum for events is 75 skaters. The cost includes up to three hours of skating, skate rental, protective gear, skating lessons, and skating games.
The Skate Truck NYC also offers group rates during their daily operations. Their Web site lists their opening times and the parks they are located in; advance reservations are required.
