Last summer's popular outdoor bar was 230 Fifth, and this summer Highbar—a sprawling rooftop lounge—is likely to be the spot that fills the need for alfresco cocktails and nibbles. Opening this Friday, the Hell's Kitchen bar and lounge is owned by Aspen’s Greg Brier and boasts spectacular panoramic views of the Hudson. The luxe space was designed by iCrave to feel modern and sleek, like an urban lounge in the sky.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces are air-conditioned, which means the venue is open year-round. Parties of as many as 200 can occupy the outdoor deck while 75 can take over the indoor lounge downstairs, which is equipped with an audiovisual sound system and a DJ booth.A menu of high-end summer cocktails like the Gisele (cachaça, Amazon cherry, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and rosé champagne) is served with a classic backyard grill menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, and grilled corn. Private events also have the option of ordering from the catering menus of Brier’s other restaurants, Amalia and Aspen.
