1. BRONZED BECKHAM: As part of its David Beckham Bodywear campaign, H&M will display nine 10-foot statues of the soccer star starting Thursday at sites in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco and use them in a promotional contest. Women's Wear Daily: "As part of the campaign, those who Instagram a photo of a Beckham statue with the hashtag #HMBeckham will be eligible for several prizes, including 10 mini statues of Beckham, a pair of underwear signed by him and a $1,000 shopping spree at H&M (presumably to stock up on more Beckham merch)." http://wwd.us/TDIP3a

2. BIG LOSER: Groupon investors, including Starbucks C.E.O. Howard Schultz and Twilight producer Guy Oseary may be having a case of buyer's remorse. "Silicon Valley heavyweights who participated in Grouponโ€™s record $1 billion fundraising round last year have lost a combined $329 million and are down 34 percent on their investment, according to research firm PrivCo." New York Post: http://nyp.st/PjYPGB

3. GOLD-MEDAL BRANDS: According to General Sentiment's Olympic sponsors report, Samsung, Adidas, and P&G were the top brand winners based on Impact Media Value gain. Samsung took the gold, due in large part to trial participants using its Galaxy SIII phones to test out a mobile payment system in the Olympic stadium. http://bit.ly/Ov848x

4. TRAFFIC JAM: After struggling through a slow spring season, the restaurant industry may continue to see low traffic for the next two years. L.A. Times: "Some segments, especially fast food, continue to be strong. The so-called quick service sector brings in 78% of restaurant traffic and enjoyed a 2% boost in the spring. But visits to mid-scale family dining establishments and casual spots slid 3% and 2%, respectively." http://lat.ms/NE5Fn9

5. PICTURE WORTH MORE THAN A THOUSAND WORDS: New York Times: "The Carlyle Group announced on Wednesday that it had reached a deal to acquire Getty Images, the well-known distributor of photography, video and multimedia products, from Hellman & Friedman for $3.3 billion." http://nyti.ms/ObnrgD
