The main character in Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands had a particular knack for topiary, which made it an appropriate design choice for the Museum of Modern Art’s film gala, which honored the director in November 2009. Dinner guests spent the cocktail hour in a makeshift garden designed by event producers SPEC Entertainment.

A new brewery is moving into Washington's NoMa neighborhood in early 2019. Red Bear Brewing will be located in the historic Uline Arena Building, adjacent to the NoMa-Gallaudet metro stop and D.C.'s new flagship REI store. Sales of kegs for events will be available, if coordinated in advance. The brewery itself will have a large taproom, kitchen, and small stage and will be able to seat 140 people with a maximum capacity of 300. The bar at Red Bear Brewing will serve as many as 24 different draft beers, wines, ciders, and meads.
