For the unveiling of Escada’s first signature bag, the Eluna, Escada’s director of special events, Samantha Walker, and the event design family of Van Wyck & Van Wyck added a little color and a lot of flowers to the fashion company’s Fifth Avenue boutique for a socialite luncheon. Because the half-moon-shaped buckskin bag comes in 12 different colors, Bronson van Wyck matched one table to each color using grosgrain ribbon to decorate white Egyptian linen tablecloths. Keeping the look of the event feminine and elegant, van Wyck then matched the floral centerpieces and the linen napkins to the color of each table. With more than one bouquet to each table, botanical bunches like chocolate cosmos, privet berries, cattleya orchids, and anthurium in glass vases provided eye-catching, but simple, decor.
The clever invites sent out for the lunch, devised by Walker and Laura Henson, Escada’s director of public relations, slyly gathered information to customize guests’ take-home gift. Designed by Naomi Usher of Studio Usher, the invite featured a perforated RSVP card attached to the inside asking guests to “Check off the color above that best expresses your style.” Each attendee left the event with an Eluna bag in the chosen color.
