A Wall That Bends and Folds
Create a theater or meeting space anywhere with Molo Design’s Softwall. Made of 400 layers of lightweight, honeycombed translucent, fire-retardant paper, the curving, freestanding Softwall can create rooms inside a venue, and even improves the acoustics in hard-surface spaces. Molo connected eight 10-foot tall, 25-foot-long walls to create a classroom on the show floor for ICFF panel discussions. One such wall costs $1,790, and the company is exploring ways to integrate graphics into the product, which is slated to be available at the end of the year.
Glass With Class
London-based Michael Ruh blows a variety of elegant, brightly colored glass items, including cylindrical glass pieces that he clusters in hanging installations, chandeliers, and other configurations. Our favorite: a bowl of them used as flower vases, with a stem going through each cylinder.
Light Up Planters
Line the perimeter of an outdoor event with Blooms, giant flower pots made of durable recycled plastic, with four internal LED lights that give off a muted glow. Since they’re totally waterproof and suitable for planting, they can double as drink coolers when filled with ice. Measuring 23 inches high and 26 inches in diameter at the top, each Bloom costs $199, with discounts for large quantities.
Flatten the Flower Vases
Vases go 2-D with this flat plexiglass cut-out (with a glass for water behind it) by Swiss design student Nicolas Le Moigne.
Casting a Shadow
Spanish-born and German-based designer Sandra Bautista Martin used shadows made by flatware, plates, and a cup to paint the fabric and ceramics in this unusual place setting.
