Christine Fisher, owner of Blue Orchid Flowers, first fell in love with flowers while she was living in Paris. "There is a florist on almost every corner ... that's where it really stems from," she said of her passion for floral design and her European-inspired aesthetic. "Having spent the last decade with my children, sharing my love of flowers by bringing them into our home, I went back to Paris for a week by myself. I came home and began doing what I love." Fisher worked briefly with Sweetgrass Flowers on Yonge Street before the shop closed earlier this year. "When they closed I decided to start my own business from home."
Since launching in June, she has worked with a number of private and corporate clients (including creating weekly arrangements for private women's club Verity) and collaborated with Candice Best of Best PR Boutique to create wintry florals for the PR firm's holiday preview in August. "I really like meeting new people and finding out what their hope is and what their vision is for their event," Fisher said. In addition to designing for events, she offers weekly deliveries to clients. Arrangements start at about $65.
