Freshness
is the goal at D’Acqua, the new Pennsylvania Avenue restaurant from acclaimed chefs
Francesco Ricchi and Enzo Febbraro that opened in late January. Meaning “from
the water,” D’Acqua has a market-style seafood display where patrons can
choose their fish as well as its preparation. Designed by HGTV’s Yvette Piaggio, the
7,200-square-foot space features a tiered layout, with stairs to the elevated
dining tables, a planked wood floor, and warm Tuscan-yellow and ocean-blue walls
and linens. Sheer sea-green curtains frame the large windows, and a series of
stuccoed arches partition the 130-seat dining room, lending an intimate feel to
each section. The bar area holds 40 and showcases a marble-topped bar, blue
suede-cushioned stools, and a waterfall between two glass panes. The 50-seat
private dining room can be divided in two for smaller events, and an outdoor
patio has seating for 100.
